Caldo, cocomero e valigie

a Uddeholm inizia a nevicare a fine Novembre inizio Dicembre (credevo prima) e il massimo è a Febbraio;

sia Rebecca sia Marcus hanno i pattini, quindi ovviamente ho deciso di portarli, e mi hanno perfino proposto di portarli loro quando tornano da Roma, ma non vorrei dargli questo impegno quindi vedrò se riesco a portarli in qualche modo;

ci sarà un altro exchange student nella mia scuola, ma non sanno da dove viene, se è un ragazzo o una ragazza e quale anno frequenterà;

Ci sentiamo!

Schools in Sweden

I found some news about Älvstranden Education Centre, that I will attend in Hagfors. It is the clear proof of the care Swedish take of development, growth and education.

The project comprises the refurbishment and extension of the Älvstranden school building in Hagfors. The building contains a senior high school, city library and swimming and sports facilities. A total of 9,800 square meters of floor space will be refurbished and 6,800 square meters of new space will be constructed in the new extension. The total investment for the school project amounts to SEK 230 million and includes building, land activities, planning, developer costs and interior design. NCC’s portion of the project is estimated at approximately SEK 190 million.

“I am an exchange student. How do you know what is a dream if you have never accomplished one. How do you know what is an adventure if you have never took part in one. How do you know what is anguish if you have never said goodbye to your family and friends with your eyes full of tears. How do you know what is being desperate, if you have never arrived in a place alone and could not understand a word of what everyone ……else was saying. How do you know what is diversity if you have never lived under the same roof with people from all over the world? How do you know what is tolerance, if you have never had to get used to something different even if you didn’t like it. How do you know what is autonomy, if you have never had the chance to decide something by yourself? How do you know what it means to grow up, if you have never stopped being a child to start a new course? How do you know what is to be helpless, if you have never wanted to hug someone and had a computer screen to prevent you from doing it. How do you know what is distance, if you have never, looking at a map, said “ I am so far away”. How do you know what is a language, if you have never had to learn one to make friends. How do you know what is patriotism, if you have never shouted “ I love my country” holding a flag in your hands. How do you know what is the true reality, if you have never had the chance to see a lot of them to make one. How do you know what is an opportunity, if you have never caught one. How do you know what is pride, if you have never experienced it for yourself at realizing how much you have accomplished. How do you know what is to seize the day, if you have never saw the time running so fast. How do you know what is a friend, if the circumstances has never showed you the true ones. How do you know what is a family, if you have never had one that supported you unconditionally . How do you know what are borders, if you have never crossed yours , to see what there was on the other side. How do you know what is imagination, if you have never thought about the moment when you would go back home. How do you know the world, if you have never been an exchange student?”
And I add:
“How can you feel the real essence of life, if you have never lived so hard and with so many satisfactions “only” one year of your life?”

A little of Italian cuisine (Svenska och Engelska)

In this day I am lonely at home from morning till evening and in this way I can have fun in the kitchen. I want to share with you the recipe and the photos of “risotto with saffron”. I am sorry for the ugliness of the photos, with some of them I used the definition tool in iPhoto to try to improve the quality.

The original recipe is called “risotto alla milanese (from Milan, in the north of Italy)” and it contains also veal marrow, but I cooked the light version.

I write the ingredients I used for a person:

10 gr. of bouillon cube

1,5 lt of water

1 onion

3 tablespoons of oil or 10 gr. of butter

100 gr. of rice (Arborio if you have)

a glass of red wine

a sachet of saffron

nut of butter

parmesan and pepper as you want

First slice the onion and start to fry in oil or butter. Cook until the onion is golden and slightly charred. Meanwhile boil the water in a sauce pot with the buillon cube.

-37, -36, -35, first videochat with family!!! -34…

Ci sentiamo!

Hello! Today is one of the most beautiful days of my life! Today I returned to Rome and while I was doing an afternoon nap after lunch/Desperate Housewives the family wrote in an e-mail that I could call them on FaceTime in that time. When I got up I took courage (my heart was pounding) and I called them! They are wonderful. Nothing else to say, very nice and easygoing. We have more or less the same level of English (they are better), then between various misunderstandings and happiness of all of us we laughed for most of the call. Nothing is more true of the fact that the first video calling with a host family is all smiles and almost no words. In a few words a taste of what will be there for the first few months, before learning the language. Maybe it will seem strange to you, but I already feel part of the family, and I hope it is/will be so for them.

See you!

Another family of exchange students is coming

Hello everyone, especially to future exchange that maybe are reading my blog, as I did last year when there was still a lot of time to the departure. Now here I am, looking forward to my flight to Stockholm, to know personally the family, to see Uddeholm, Hagfors, my school and to know persons from all over the world. I am very happy when I think of the new life I will have there, in the country I have always dreamed. About this I have something to say to the students that are now studying the associations offered them for the 2014-2015 programs. AFS (known in Italy as Intercultura) is the most famous association here in Italy but not for this the only one for efficiency, reliability and experience success. I made a mistake, I choose AFS for this reason, because I thought it was the best in the world. I had to understand before it was not sure I would go to Sweden with AFS, in fact they gave me Denmark and I could refuse. And now I am here following my dream. So, in my opinion, if you love a country so much as I do, do not waste your time in something you are not sure of, because this is the experience of your life! Alike, if you are brave enough to accept every kind of country will be offered to you, try AFS, but take also a look around. Cultural exchanges are becoming always more popular year after year, and it is starting to be difficult to find the association fits to you, so I recommend you try with various associations. Besides STS with which I will leave, other associations I know are:

AFSAI – ANNO ALL’ESTERO – BEC – CSS – CTS -EF – EUROEDUCA – GLOBOPOINT – INTERSTUDIO VIAGGI – MB SCAMBI – MONDOINSIEME – NEW LANDS – PROLINGUE – ROTARY – STUDYTOURS – SCHOOL AND VACATION – STI TRAVELS – WEP – YOUABROAD

AFSAI – ANNO ALL’ESTERO – BEC – CSS – CTS -EF – EUROEDUCA – GLOBOPOINT – INTERSTUDIO VIAGGI – MB SCAMBI – MONDOINSIEME – NEW LANDS – PROLINGUE – ROTARY – STUDYTOURS – SCHOOL AND VACATION – STI TRAVELS – WEP – YOUABROAD

Fyrtiofem dagar tills lämna!

Also this week is over, six weeks to go. Lately I have a lot of difficulty to write in English, I do not know why but my English is shutting down, and my motivation of learn Swedish too. And it is a big problem.

I have the flight, I will leave on 15 August and I will be in Sweden on 4.40 p.m. I am really excited about it!

I enjoyed another group on facebook where are assembled students will leave with STS, and they particularly come from Sweden and Norway.

I discovered this wonderful channel on youtube, he is a great teacher of Swedish language (:

… and the Svenska channel

He also has a website:

Saturday 22 June was my birthday and I also received the answers from my host family and my coordinator in Sweden, after that, this week has been very challenging.

On Wednesday my mum and me went to the concert Franco Battiato held at the Auditorium of Santa Cecilia. He is not only a singer, he is a great poet, I will bring to Sweden his songs. He is one of the most famous singers from Italy I suggest you to listen, even if they sing only in Italian. Other singers I like are Lucio Battisti, Rino Gaetano and Antonello Venditti.

And I come to seek
just to see you or talk
because I need your presence
to better understand my essence.
This popular sentiment
arises from mechanical divine
a mystical rapture and sensual
I imprisons you.
Should I change the object of my desires
not content with small everyday joys
make like a hermit
that self-denial.
And I come to seek
with the excuse of having to speak
because I like to think and what you say
because in you I see my roots.
This century now at the end
saturated with parasites without dignity
only pushes me to be better
with more desire.
Emanciparmi from the nightmare of the passions
try the One above the Good and Evil
be a divine image

because I’m fine with you
because I need your presence

perché ho bisogno della tua presenza

mi imprigiona a te.
Dovrei cambiare l’oggetto dei miei desideri
non accontentarmi di piccole gioie quotidiane
fare come un eremita
che rinuncia a sé.
E ti vengo a cercare

Last Saturday I met some of the skaters I know and the sadness won on my desire of not think too much about the departure. Luckily my friends of skating group always succeed in making me feel happy. This sadness maybe came also from the fact that I will not bring rollerblades with me in Sweden, because after three months it could snow. Between rollerblades, my sleeping bag and skis (if they fit to me yet), I would choose skis.

On Friday I saw PIF near my house, who is a young journalist that works for MTV and interviews famous persons. Below there is the link for the one with Roberto Saviano, famous journalist, writer and essayist, known for his inquiries about Camorra.

My host family will be in Rome for four days, a week before the time I will be there. My (two) families will meet and I am excited also because I could be their guide.

Observing my blog I noticed it is composed by a lot of bits of life, fleeting emotions and feelings. I hope once arrived in Sweden the posts will be more uniform.

I am on vacation with my family in the house we have between Terracina and Sperlonga, and we will stay for the full month of July. Then I will prepare the luggage and meet the family in Rome.

Now I go to the terrace to see the stars with my family.

I left you with some songs I added to the playlist “Flyger mot Sverige”

I recommend you to see “The Truman show” and “Into the wild”, I have always loved them and now I like them as an exchange student.

See you!

God natt!
